Yemen blocks local newspaper's Web site

Submitted by ONI-MENA on 4 March, 2007 - 12:05.

Al-Shora.net, the Web site of a local Yemeni newspaper has been blocked in Yemen after it published reports critical of the government, the site reported (Arabic). Some local newspapers condemned the blocking and publicized (Nass Press and al-Wahdawi for example) an alternative way (via proxy) to access the banned site from Yemen.

The ONI has previously analyzed the legal and technological restrictions on Internet access in Yemen.

This is an outrage, eroding

This is an outrage, eroding someone’s human rights in this way, it is ones right to hold any views even if they conflict with that which the state holds.

I recommend using http://www.premiumproxy.co.uk as this allows you to access any blocked site anonymously.

This is about freedom of speech without states/isp's or other people telling you what you can and cant see, read or publish.
